  • We appreciate reviews, but sometimes clarification needs to be made. This post is for clarification regarding another review. 1. OLDN is not a Catholic school. The review stated twice we were Catholic. As much as we appreciate and love our Catholic brothers and sisters in Christ, we are not a Catholic school. 2. We do not hold children by their arms if they are misbehaving. We do redirect children and give love hugs when they are in danger of hurting themselves, others, or trying to run out of the room. 3. This is a tuition-based school. We are not a public school. Therefore, parents have to pay tuition. While it is always difficult to enforce payment, teachers must be paid and therefore tuition must be on time. Some monies, such as deposits, are non-refundable. 4. It can be difficult for preschool children who have been only at home to acclimate to school and social environments. They may cry and not want to leave mom or dad. Our teachers are experts at motivating children to stay and it has been our experience that once parents leave, children become engaged with the other children in the room and learn to enjoy school and social activities. It is essential for parents to work with the teachers for children to be successful in school.

  • As a picky parent, I feel very blessed to have found Oak Lawn Day Nursery! When you first walk in, you can tell by the laughter that it is a fun learning environment. As you walk the halls, the school is filled with creative projects to show all the great things the children are learning. My daughter started at 8 weeks old and stayed at OLDN until she graduated from preschool. My daughter was always greeted with a hello and a hug. On the rare occasion that she had a harder time being separated from me, her preschool teacher always came over to hug and comfort my child. Even though she sometimes cried, I never worried about the love and care she would get from her teachers at this school. When my child started in public school, the teachers were thrilled with what she had learned at OLDN. She already knew words and could read. She knew numbers and a lot about life too! Most of all, she knew love! Years later, my daughter still asks to go visit her teachers at OLDN to say hello and share stories of all the wonderful things she remembers about the school. I would highly recommend this school to any parent. You will not find a more loving and caring group of teachers to care for your child!
